The key function of constant pressure valve in fluid control

23 Tue 2025

The key function of sanitary constant pressure valves is to maintain precise, constant pressure within hygienic fluid systems, thereby ensuring product quality, process efficiency, and safety in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, and preventing equipment damage. By maintaining a stable inlet or outlet pressure level, they prevent fluctuations in inlet or outlet pressure due to pipe blockages or external factors, thereby ensuring stable pipeline operation.

A constant pressure valve primarily consists of a valve core, bonnet, diaphragm assembly, and valve body. It operates by controlling the incoming air pressure acting on the diaphragm, which in turn coordinates with the valve core to achieve pressure balance within the valve chamber.

Key Functions:

1. Pressure Stabilization

When system pressure fluctuates (such as changes in pump flow or pipe resistance), the constant pressure valve automatically adjusts the valve opening to restore pressure to the set value, preventing equipment failure or loss of efficiency due to unstable pressure.

2. Safety Protection

In hydraulic systems, constant pressure valves prevent overloads or abnormal pressure increases, acting as safety valves and protecting equipment from damage.

3. Hygienic Design

"Hygienic" design refers to valves designed for applications with stringent hygiene requirements. They are easy to clean, disassemble, and reassemble, preventing bacterial growth and maintaining fluid cleanliness and purity.

4.Diaphragm Operation

Hygienic constant pressure valve's internal diaphragm is key to its function, allowing it to react to pressure changes and maintain a steady output by adjusting against a controlled pneumatic (air) pressure.

Application Areas:

•Inlet constant pressure valves are typically used as relief valves after separators and heat exchangers.
•Outlet constant pressure valves are used before filling and bottling machines.

Generally speaking, sanitary constant pressure valves primarily regulate line pressure stability. Therefore, they do not offer a fully closed or sealed function and cannot be used to open or close valves.Want to know more? Please contact DONJOY
